The powerful RDM-DB digital/analog mobile radio delivers superior audio quality and crystal-clear communication! Easily switch the radio mode to analog to provide connectivity to friends not using a digital radio signal.
The difference between the signal quality in analog vs digital is huge. While both an analog & digital radio will transmit over the same distance, the digital radio will remain loud and clear all the way to the end of the covered area whereas the analog radio will gradually fade and garble the further out they go. Learn more about digital vs analog at our blog post.
Analog radios transmit every single noise that is picked up by the microphone allowing background noise to drown out the voice message. Digital reception, however, can focus on the voice message and ignore all RF interference resulting in exceptional voice clarity.
Digital radios are able to rebuild voice sounds using auto error correction if a signal is badly corrupted due to radio interference.
The RDM-DB works with all analog UHF and VHF radios, and all DMR digital radios: Motorola, Rugged, etc.. If you are transmitting to a second digital radio, you can do so on a digital channel, but if you need to talk to an analog radio, you can simply change over to an analog channel and start your conversation.
Radio Dimensions: 5.5"W x 6.75"D x 2"H Front / 1.5" H Back
Compatibility:
This radio works with all VHF/UHF business band radios operating on the same frequencies. Radio models include, but are not limited to RDM-DB, M1, RDH-X, R1, V3, RM60, RH5R, RDH16, as well as Icom, Motorola, Kenwood business band radios, and more.
